Martyn’s Law received Royal Assent on 3 April 2025. Home Office statutory guidance was published on 15 April 2026. The SIA’s final guidance is due in autumn 2026, a scope tool in the new year, and the Act is expected to come into force in spring 2027, date to be confirmed.

| 3 Apr 2025 | Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 receives Royal Assent, with an implementation period of at least 24 months. |
| 15 Apr 2026 | Home Office publishes the section 27 statutory guidance. SIA opens consultation on its section 12 guidance (closed 12 Jun 2026). |
| Jul 2026 | SIA publishes guidance on its role as regulator (updated 14 Sep 2026). |
| Sep 2026 | Home Office principal-use guidance for multi-use premises. SIA update of 11 September: scope tool in the new year, templates over the coming months, notification portal in development, more pilot inspections this autumn. |
| Autumn 2026 | SIA final section 12 guidance expected. |
| Early 2027 | SIA scope tool; volunteers to test the notification portal. |
| Spring 2027 | Act expected to come into force. Exact date to be confirmed by the SIA and Home Office. |
